I see the same issue with a R-Pi 4 and a fresh install of bookworm OS. I've done all the steps listed above, including dtoverlay=imx500 and still no camera is detected. The line from the camera debug report about the RP2040 is also all ones:
I have tried with the supplied cable and a known good cable from an older R-Pi camera. I also checked the older R-Pi camera works as well.
Even though the AI camera is not detected, when it is connected it takes a lot longer to boot up to the desktop than with the old camera or no camera. It also takes so long to shutdown that I've never had the patience to wait for it and had to hit the power switch.
